Prrobblemm?

okay i have like a major problemm.

my silk therapy like antifrizz stuff like came out superfast out of the bottle and now my hair is like so greasy from it! i cant wash it and let it dry and straighten b/c i dont have enough time (dance comp in a half hourr). is there anything to get my hair not to look greasy without washing it again?

Prrobblemm?
baby powder

just put it in your hair

OR

I know it sounds gross but you know that paper that you put around the toilet seat in public bathroom? Take a piece (of a new one of course) and rub it around it your hair. It will take out all your grease. It works so good!
Reply:definately try using talc!
Reply:Ok, this sounds really weird, but honestly, it DOES WORK. Put some corn starch in your hair, it absorbs the moisture. Your hair will look white, but it is so so easy to just comb out with a brush! Good luck and have fun at the dance!

Plrrz help me on shamppooos ?!!?

i dont know which shampoo to get!

i want super soft hair, thats shiney as well.

my hair is normal.

i was thinking of either redken all soft or biosilk silk therapy. what would you recommend?

Plrrz help me on shamppooos ?!!?
redken all soft is good...so is redken smooth down..

Back to Basics Coconut Mango Rich Moisture Shampoo also works really well...

but i would REALLY recommend TIGI S Factor Smoothing Shampoo! its wonderful one of my favorites!
Reply:I use John Freida, People tell me all the time how shiney my hair is.
Reply:redken is good, but i'd recommend aussie. i have one that's specifically for shine, and it makes my hair really soft. For shine, you should use a shine spray. they are like $3.00 at drug stores and looks amazing!
Reply:Try John Freida in formula for your hair color. Always use the frizz control after shampooing. Good Luck!

WHICH SHAMPOo???

i dont know which one to get...

~biosilk silk therapy shampoo

~redken all soft

~organix.

i read some good reviews and a lot of bad reviews of biosilk...? i wanted to get that but now i dont know...

i read a lot of good reviews for redken all soft.

WHICH SHAMPOo???
redken all soft!!!! i have the redken smooth down heat glie im going to get the redken color extend shampoo and the all soft conditioner

Biosilk or redken?

im trying to fiigure out which shampoo to buy.. biosilk .silk therapy or redken all soft...? which would you recommend?if you tried both [preferred] which one would you prefer?

Biosilk or redken?
Redken...i love it...its what the pros use, but not overly expensive and it doesn't dry out ur hair like most shampoos do...i use it every other day and it works fine for me...my favorite is the one that is for dry or conditoned hair or something (it comes in a tall brown bottle sometimes)
Reply:Redken all soft. More benefits for the hair plus smells yum
Reply:i've only used redken all-soft and it is a good shampoo...but i'm not crazy about the scent.

What to do with my thick poofy hair..?

Well I want to do something than just sticking it in a ponytail...Some products I have at home are...biosilk silk therapy, garnier fructis anti-frizz serum, mousse(sp?),and other random hair products....I just took a shower so my hair is damp right now...I have a blow-dryer and a straightener(which doesnt work too well).....Any suggestions would be great

What to do with my thick poofy hair..?
You could straighten it! Wait till your hair is dry though, or else you will fry your hair!

1. Blow Dry hair

2. Straighten hair all around head, make sure it is evenly straight all the way around.

3. Part your hair on the side

That should be really cute. And it is simple too. If your hair is thick, I wouldn't use mousse, it is usually volumizing, and by the way you described your hair, you don't need any more of.

How to grow out relaxed hair to natural?

okay i am a sophmore in highschool and want to transition my hair. I havent had a relaxer in 2 months and have about 1'-1.5'' inch. of new growth. I want to do the trim as it grow regime.I wash hair once a week and deep condition with smooth shine silk therapy(60 sec. critical repair), then blowdry, straighten, and wrap, and also use isoplus oil sheen and a lil bit of indiam hemp grease for extra shine. My hair is healthy and drink water only a daily basis. Just give me good advice and what products should i use on natural hair like shampoo, etc. I trim ends every 3-5 weeks. How long will the whole process take i expect at least a year!! The relaxers i did use contains no lye and i also wonder what hair texture may look like cause even with a relaxer i was still able to wear hair wavy/curly with mousse. Please just give good advice and personal experiance and good guidance and i am not doing this on my own. Thank you

I need a new hairstyle?

so i have long hair.. all the way down to my butt.. I have bangs..

my hair is dry... when i wet it and dries all nappy and frizzy.. i've tried many things.. Moose and hairspray makes it worse...

so i usually braid it.. like a "pipi longstocking styly" and have curls at the end and straighten my hair..

and

http://a821.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/ima...

(i'm the girl in the yellow)

oh. and when i striaghten it. it comes out more dry and dead. i put on silk therapy. and sometimes that works.. but other times.. my hair just finds itself in knotts..

and please don't suggest to cut it. i love long hair. and when i say 'dead' i don't mean like split ends.. i just have that type of dry hair. that isn't so smooth.

I need a new hairstyle?
personally, i think your hair is really adorable! i absolutly love it! maybe you should just get some highlights...perhaps a nice blonde?? or a natural red?? and then go get a trim...you might even want some choppy layers. i have choppy layers...they are super cute!
Reply:as long as I been doing hair, so many people come to me with the same problem , I love your hair , just love it. I know you dont want to cut it and thats good but the dead ends to need to come off , if you dont get them off soon it will slip soooooo far up that it will start braking off and you will end up with short hair and i know you dont want that. so it should be trimed every 6 to 8 week , the silk therapy work fwounders keep using it i use in on myself i have the same problem . noooo color it will make it 10x worse. put a deep conditioner in it every week , meanig leav it in for 30min. under heat if you can. to much heat on your hair is whats damaging it you are curling it to much your hair is trying to tell you that you it cant take all of that, that why it fizzing up , listen to your hair , it knows best when its geting damaged on the ends your doing to much of somethin that you need to quit. outher then that there not much you can do. hope things work out for you.

use a perfesstion line of conditoner on your hair , save, pantien, tresama, is all very damaging hair shampoos go to a salon.
Reply:french braiding or a fish tail braid would also be really really cute with long hair.

Alsoo. my hair used to get really dry from blow drying all the time. i use bert's bees Avocado Butter Pre-Shampoo Hair Treatment and then garnier fructis shampoo and conditioner but instead of washing my hair out with hot water i use cold water because that makes hair extra shiny. i then apply some shine serum and let it dry a little and then blow dry and its no longer dry. i add a little more shine serum after i finish blow drying it to give it an extra healthy look too. hope this helps.

Tips for all different type of Hairstyles

http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-42eT_e8_b...
Reply:go to a proffessional salon, expennsive haircuts have the best quality.

ask for them to cut i above the shoulders and below the chin with small angles and no layers. if you have poofy hair, ur gonna end up having a bad hair day, and the layers will be in all the wrong places. anyways, dont ask 4 layers again!! but ask then to take a pair of thinning shears and thin the hair out dramatically, but tell them u dont want thin hair, u want fine hair. also, get a color gloss, that will help it regain natural shine. i agree, CHI is a great kind of flat iron for the days you want it straight, but if you want it curly, get a small barrell, and a thick barrel curling iron and do valumtious curls every where around you head.

once youve gotton home and showered for work/school, leave the hair wet and apply a shine boost that keeps the hair gorgeous and lightweight. i suggest pure color shine boody with anti fade complex. its in a squarish pink bottle at most good salons. if your having a bad hair day, and dont have time to set out your do', then accesorize, pullit back, but add a funky broach or slick it all the way up to a sleek stylish bun.

hope this helps!!
Reply:My hair used to be poofy. Maybe you need a haircut. Turns out, that my stylist forgot to thin my top layer, so I got this mushroom head look. Maybe you should go to a professional stylist and ask if your haircut was done right, and ask about how to prevent other problems.
Reply:Go see a hair stylist and tell him/her that you would like your hair thinned out.
Reply:Get a relaxer in your hair or get a better straightener CHI is the best, if you want to thin it out go get your hair done and tell them you want alot of layers tot hin it out. and let your hair dry naturally
Reply:We have like, the same hair

And my straightener sucks too.

HA!

Sweet, okay.

Well basically I had really awesome hair once, but it was totally by chance.

I was too lazy to fully dry my hair, so I only half-dried it, slept on it, woke up and I had funky kinky hair.

That would only work if you have straight hair w/ lots of wavy kinks ... it's hard to explain.

:) i'm interested in peoples answers to this question ...
Reply:i have the same hair.... i like to use either tresseme mouse or this extra strong hold mouse at ulta beauty anyway.... i use that and i make sure not to miss an inch of myhiar becuase... believe me people WILL notice.... any way.. after that is appled... do not touch it cuz the oil in your skin and the texture of ur fingers will take out the texture of what to mouse did. **you dont have to do this but it gives it curl: get a dry towel and put it in ur hands and scrunch ur hair in it DO NOT TOUCH AFTER.... let it dry for about 2 minutes by air then spray some hairspray in it and then it ok to touch =] hope it works

My Hair Feels and Looks Dryer Than Before?

I just recently got my haircut (I grew it out for about 2 years). It's pretty long, about to almost my chin. Anyway I got it cut and right after it was cut it felt amazing and I could run my fingers through it and what not, my hairstylist used a flat iron on my hair and I loved the results, it looked badass! now I've been doing it my self for about 2 months I use "Sunsilk frizzy cream, Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Serum, and Biosilk Silk Therapy" in my hair after everyshower, I take a shower every other day or every other 2 days. The thing is I can't run my fingers through my hair as easily as I could 2 months ago and it feels pretty bad compared to what it was 2 months ago :(, do tell me what you guys think because I'm somewhat ignorant when it comes to hair, also I only flat iron my hair for 15-25 minutes every other or every other 2 days... it looks a bit dry too! I would appreciate if someone could suggest what I can do to help my hair, I have naturally wavy/curly hair.Chi FlatIron

My Hair Feels and Looks Dryer Than Before?
a hair iron + silicone based hair care products = fried hair

Silicones have a low boiling point, and some are small enough to penetrate the hair shaft, below the cuticle.

So, just imagine this.. you apply a product containing silicone, and remembering a percentage of the molecules will be below the cuticle, then you use your hair iron %26amp; boil the silicone molecules.

The molecules above the cuticle are not too bad, however the ones that have penetrated the hair boil internally %26amp; cause severe structural %26amp; cuticle damage to your hair....

the answer - use silicone free products only

hope this helps

((( a hot hairdryer will also boil silicone)))
Reply:before drying your hair, make sure to apply a moisturizer on it to prevent it from drying out while straightening it.
Reply:The best way to find the best products for your hair is to try them all. That would be pretty expensive but go over to a friends house and use some of her stuff. See how it works, and just keep trying new things. Hair may work with products from this company and not that company....it's all trial and error.

If I can suggest something, I would suggest you try a hot oil treatment....for a cheaper way to have great soft and silky hair with less frizzies, warm up some olive oil (regular cooking stuff) in the microwave and massage it into your hair while it is dry. Wrap it up in a warm towel from the drier and sit for an hour or so. Maybe give yourself a facial at the same time. Then get in the shower, and shampoo out all the oil (because water won't get the oil out--oil and water don't mix) and then condition your hair. Viola! Beautiful silky hair.

The most key thing to protecting your locks is to stay away from all heat. Yep, that means no hairdrier, no straightner, no curling iron either....It's very hard not to advert to these products but just try it for a week. Don't blow dry your hair for a week....try it. I know it's hard not to but if you stay away from things with heat such as blow driers, curling irons, straightners, etc....you will notice a HUGE change in the feel and look of your hair. It will be so much more healthy.
Reply:You are likely over moisturizing. Believe it or not too much moisturizer can make your hair feel "dry". All heat sources will damage your hair. Even though you do not use it for long periods or everday you hair is not living, it is a dead extension made of protein just as your nails are. Every time you apply heat, the damage progresses and cannot be reversed. You can mask the damage but growing new hair is the only way to remove it. Use one simple mositurizer on your hair after washing and rinse thoroughly. You can use a heavier conditioner once a week or every other week as a treatment to help smooth the damaged hair. I would limit the heat source to avoid more damage.
Reply:The flat iron is drying your hair and you have to get a trim because it has been two months and it's time.

I prefer the Maxiglide by Maxiusbeauty.com because it incorporates steam to smooth out your hair without frying it like a flat iron would.

If the flat iron has a lower setting, you might want to experiment until your heating level is just warm enough to smooth out your hair without destroying it.

If there is a way you can go a little longer between using the iron, the healthier your hair will be. If you wear your hair flat and smooth, you might want to wrap your hair at night.

You would:

Brush your hair around your head and pin it up with flat hair clips. Then, tie your hair with a silk or satin scarf.

In the morning, let your hair down and comb and lightly brush your hair into your style.

Your products are fine but be careful handling the flat iron.
Reply:Go to your hair salon and ask the stylist what you should do, buy what they put in it.
Reply:use a heat protecting spray. flat irons are brutal for hair. at least you have the best straightener available, so you should be fine in the long run. just don't put too much stuff in your hair, that dries it out too.

What kind of spray or serum can I use to protect my hair while straightening it?

Recently, I started using the Sedu Hair Straightener to cause less damage to my hair. I also use Biosilk Silk Therapy after I straighten. But my hair still doesn't look as healthy or shiny as I want it to. Is there something I can use before I straighten that will protect my hair from the heat or help moisturize?

Any input would be appreciated! Thank you. =)

What kind of spray or serum can I use to protect my hair while straightening it?
hey lady,

i use products by CHI called silk infusion.. you can get it at certain salons for about 15 dollars or other salons for like 22 dollars.. not too cheap but works great!!!!! its a protein that protects the hair as you style it.. it protects the hair and keeps it from becoming damaged because it IS a protein. apply a LITTLE bit to your hands before you blow dry it, AND before you straighten it (but only a little drop before you straighten with an iron) and then if you want a little after your done styling it. it smells awesome and really gets your hair soft!!! its worth the money, you will get your moneys worth as well as healthy, beautiful hair no doubt.. you will loove it!!! good luck!
Reply:ghd iron oil is really good but only spray a tiny bit on or your hair will get heavy
Reply:You should try Iron Smoother from Matrix. It is from their sleek look line in the orange bottle. I spray each section I'm gonna straighten just once to protect the hair. It feels really nice on my hair and I just run a finishing serum when I'm done and my hair feels soft and not dried out. Give it a try. They sell it at beauty supply stores, salons, and I think maybe Target. It's around $13.
Reply:Chi Iron Guard is specifically for flat irons. Follow directions and spray as you go. Also recommend that you use Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum in hair when damp as that also helps to straighten and condition hair as you go
Reply:Try using a di-frizz serum on your hair as you straighten it. Try doing a layer and put the serum on it then straighten it then do the next layer untill it is all done. That is the way i straighten my hair and my hair is healthy and shiny. I hope i helped you.
Reply:USE OIL SHEENSPRAY.THERE IS ALSO SOME HAIR STRAIGTENING CREAM SOME ARE AT FAMILY DOLLAR BUT IT LOCKS IN THE STRAIGHTNESS!

Im starting to go gray and am premenopausal, my hair is giving me problems?

My hair used to be totally straight. Now that Im just starting to become premenopausal my hair has started to become kind of curly, frizzy and drier. The main problem I am having is my numerous gray hairs like to stick straight up when they are growing out. Also the frizziness makes my hair always look messy...HELP. I now wear my hair pulled back in a bun or ponytail but the hairs stick out and constantly look messy and unbrushed, even when Ive just pulled it back. Ive tried numerous deep conditioning treatments and buy leave in conditioners and smoothing balms, silk therapy etc.. How do I manage my frizzy, messy hair?

Im starting to go gray and am premenopausal, my hair is giving me problems?
if you have frizzy hair, but want curly hair, try this:

use Denise McAdams hair serum shampoo stuff, or Nicky Clarke. you have to wash your hair in warm water, not hot because heat activates certain hormones and your hair will be lifeless and limp.

dont brush your hair when it's dry; only when its wet, that will help to get proper curls. dont use a hair dryer cuz that will just dry your hair out and make it REAL frizzy!

hope this helps! phants x x x

Reply:try some deep heat oil treatments that should help with both and some deep conditioning which will help as well other then that use some get
Reply:sometimes gray can grow different than your young hair .either you have alot of split ends (get cut) or use a conditioner but leave a little bit in dont rinse well. OR COLOR IT bye!
Reply:have you tried buying a straightener? if you have enough time in the morning while you're getting ready its a great investment, it heats the hair just enough to iron it straight. I use one almost everyday and i don't have a problem with any sort of hair damage. Also if you buy a straightener (ceramic plated are the best) you can buy a product called thermal that just gives your hair an extra protective layer from the heat, you put it on before you straighten it.
Reply:Try Frizz Ease, it works really great! And maybe a straightener. And this may seem strange, but you can actually smooth a small amount of your regular moisturizer onto your hair to keep it smooth for hours! Just not so much that it looks dirty. And as for those grays...try Clairol Natural Instincts, it isn't an actual dye. It just gives your natural color a wake up call and covers those grays. Hope this helps and good luck!

Hair straightening tips?

alrightyyy, i have a hair straightener and its coriolis(i think thats how you spell it). well my ahir is supper curly and i love straightening. what are some things i can do to improve how my hair looks? **example: put silk therapy before?**

i want it to look professional for about 2 -3 dayss%26lt;33

please i will really appreciate it if you can give me tips

Hair straightening tips?
I wouldn't use silk therapy. Ever. It is almost pure alcohol which is very drying to your hair, especially if you use heat styling tools. I would use a cream like Loreal Texture, it protects from the heat and makes it even softer. Plus it smells great! Also, you should be using a good moisturizing conditioner on a regular basis!
Reply:Buy the sunsilk straightening shampoo still you will need a straightener
Reply:.
Reply:get the chi straightiner, its like magic... seriously, i lllooovvveeee mine... good luck!!! =]]
Reply:HI! I WORK IN A SALON, AND I USE AQUAGE BEYOND SHINE SPRAY! IT PROTECTS YOUR HAIR FROM THE FLAT IRON. YOU'RE ACUTALLY BURNING OFF THE PRODUCT INSTEAD OF BURNING YOUR HAIR. AND MAKE SURE YOU'RE USING AN IRON WITH CERAMIC PLATES. IT LETS THE HAIR SLIDE THROUGH MORE EASILY INSTEAD OF PULLING IT AND BREAKING IT OFF LIKE METAL PLATES.
Reply:you can always got to your salon or hair dresser and have him/her wash it and sraighten it for you if your hair doesn't get greasy really easy it should last until you have to wash it again
Reply:you just have to get a heat protecting mist to spray on it before you straighten it( i use v0-5). i straighten my hair in sections so it comes out better, then i put garnier fruticus sleek and shine serum on it to smooth down the flyaways and frizz and it comes out shiny. just dont use too much because it will weigh down your hair. and during the day if your hair gets frizzy just bring a dryer sheet with you in your purse and run it over your hair ( believe me it sounds crazy but so many people do it and it works great ) :) hope it helps
Reply:i think u should use panteen anti-friz and if ur going to straten it use gotta be strait spray

Reply:You can blow it slick-straight. That always looks good. Keep it shiny and smooth. You can put it half-up, if your bangs are long enough. You can also take a center piece of the hair (about the width of your pinky finger) on your crown (directly above the space in between your eyebrows) and pin it back with a barrette. I think that looks really cute.

Biosilk cheaper?

Whats a good secure site i can order biosilk silk therapy ?

Biosilk cheaper?
Go to Folica.com

Biosilk...?

I recently bought a bottle of biosilk ( farouk silk therapy ) for hair but it says on the bottle that it can be applied to skin..Did anyone try it? Can u put it on face?

Biosilk...?
Yes, you can absolutely use it on your skin. I get eczema in the winter, and this helps me tremendously. It's a little oily if you apply it directly to your skin, so what I do is get the amount of lotion I would normally use and then add 2-3 drops of the silk therapy. I rub it in my palms and then apply.

It makes my legs feel fantastic after shaving, I love it! Sometimes when my cuticles get bad, I'll also rub some of it directly onto my nails. I use it in my hair as well of course, but you have to remember that a little goes a looooooooong way!

Good luck!
Reply:Excellent product. It was initially for skin. Then it was discovered to be a powerful treatment after washing the hair.On damp hair its great for control while blow drying. It gives shine. On dry hair its a great tool for the frizzes.Helps smooth the hair.
Reply:usually you can use hair product's on your face but bio silk is very silky, so it might be a Little slick.

good luck.

Which shampoo?!?

i either want to get redken all soft or biosilk silk therapy shampoo... has anyone tried these? which one do you recommend from these two?

Which shampoo?!?
redken
Reply:biosilk is better
Reply:I have not tried the biosilk (although I love their other products). I used Redken All Soft for two years and thought it was the best ever. Then this past spring I tried sleek. look by Matrix and I have not used Redken since!! I have frizzy color treated hair and this shampoo/conditioner is the best for smoothing it down and has a great smell! Sorry I couldn't be more help on the biosilk but I would advise using Matrix Sleek. Look over Redken All Soft any day.

Reply:I have heard that redken all soft shampoo is great. but, personally i've never used it. I have used biosilk silk therapy shampoo though and i think its very good. I'm sure either one would be good, though.

Tigi Catwalk, Bed Head, Sebastian Body Double, Paul Mitchell or Biolage. Easy 10 pt.?

I am an African American with shoulder length hair. I have average hair(not course) that I perm every 4 wks (Olive Oil relaxer) that has not been colored in about 2yrs and I dont plan to color it again. I am currently using Biosilk Silk Therapy shampoo and conditioner plus the serum. Although I love Biosilk line I would love to use some other line to alternate with it. What I look for in my hair is volume, body, softness, cleaness, and for curls to stay in when I curl it with my chi iron. Which of these products would you recommend or if you know of any others that may be of help. Please be honest and give me a reason why you think a product may be good or not for my hair type. Thanks.

Tigi Catwalk, Bed Head, Sebastian Body Double, Paul Mitchell or Biolage. Easy 10 pt.?
i love the biosilk serum, but in my personal opinion the shampoo is way to heavy and does not get my hair clean. i am not a big fan of anything above but i am a big fan of redken products. i think that the all soft is the best for your hair type especially since you perm it because the all soft is for dry and brittle hair. it makes the hair more manageable and will help to keep your hair strong at the same time. check around at all of the regis based salons such as regis, cost cutters, smart style ect. they will have some packages for the holidays that have the poo and cond both for a great price so you can try them and they all have a return policy! that way if you don't like it then you can take it back and try something else! i say stick with the serum you are using though. i think it is the best that you will find.
Reply:i think the paul mitchell products work just as good as the biosilk
Reply:i use bead head which works good on my thin hair. I think tigi or paul mitchell will work best for your hair. depends on which of their products you buy. good luck=]

HELP!! Just Highlighted my hair, now when I blow dry it is breaking and falling out....?

When I get ready to blow dry my hair i put silk therapy oil on it and run it through my hair, it feels fine. As soon as I turn on the blow dryer and try to dry it I cant even get a brush through it and it is falling out. It is only happening on the bleached part,.. what can I do?!?! it hurts to blow dry and pieces of my hair are breaking off and falling out!!! HELP!

HELP!! Just Highlighted my hair, now when I blow dry it is breaking and falling out....?
first of all your are killing your hair with heat dont do that just let it dry naturally and you may not have washed all the bleach out wash your hair really good and leave the conditioner on it and let it air dry do that for a few days and if it doesnt stop you may have over processed your hair and need to go to a salon
Reply:Stop touching it, throw a hat on, and head to the nearest salon.
Reply:You either didn't do it right or your hair was just not strengthened enough for highlights. Did you say you did it yourself?

Get it professionally done. You can't go wrong with that.
Reply:dont brush it while blowdrying
Reply:quit blow drying your hair. The bleach did some damage to your hair, and now with heat drying, you are making it worse. Let your hair air dry or if you are going to dry it, don't put the oil on it. Use a lower heat for blow drying, and try a shampoo that is heat protective. Dove has a new one out.

talk to your hairdresser if it persists.
Reply:well i dought its the blow dryer, i got highlights a few times and in the begining ur hair dose start falling out alot i. it shud stop 3 weeks after getting ur hair done.
Reply:you are not supposed to do that! the oil is to smoothen your hair, when you start to blow dry it, you are basicly frying your hair!
Reply:put some sort of oil treatment in your hair before blow drying it, this will help from you hair getting so dry and breaking off.
Reply:You are cooking the oil ... try using a regular conditioner and skipping the blow-dry until you make sure you haven't damaged your hair too much between the bleaching (highlighting) chemicals and the heat from the dryer ... you might have to get the damaged ends cut off to keep the damage from expanding ...
Reply:go back to your stylist or go to a Sally beauty supply store and purchase an olive oil treatment.squeeze afew drops into palms of hands and massage thru towel dried hair

How much damage does chemically straightening your hair do?

I use a straight iron almost every day. My hair is frizzy waves but looks good after I spend 30-40 min straightening and with the help of silk therapy. Should I think about straightening or will this cause more damage? How long does it last? Can I color with it? Whats the average cost for shoulder length hair? Thanks for any advice!

How much damage does chemically straightening your hair do?
I did a magic straight on my hair and it last about 5-6 months.. it somewhat does damages your hair.. I got this done because I didnt want to sit and use a straight iron every time I was my hair.. you can color your hair but it's better not to because it will get more damages on your hair.. try coating.. it's like glazing and protects your hair from being damaged from the sun.. you can pick your colors but that will last about 1 month.. the price ranges.. I did mine for $175 from a well known hair salon.. prices are cheaper in some places and a bit higher..
Reply:it dries up your hair but conditioning every time you wash your hair would really help. :]

how long? it depends upon you if you use it everyday try washing your hair every other day or every 3 days..

you can still continue but lessen the use of iron..

yeah you can dye you hair it depends you can color it by yourself though..

-we are the same, i iron my hair.. i colored it.. and my hair is shoulder length too.. :]
Reply:you should be using a thermal heat protectant on your hair as you straighten it. then put the silk therapy on afterwards, it is just for shine. also you have options w the curl and straight look. when you were it curly put a cream for curly hair on it when its dry. redken spin control is great
Reply:Don't do the chemical straightner(Relaxer). I did it to my hair because I had curly hair and i just wanted my hair straight for a couple weeks (i did not feel like straightening it the long way any more) and it was anything I wanted it to be, my hair felt like all the oil got sucked out of it and my hair was breaking real easy and now ai have to live with frizzy hair instaed of curly hair 4 ever. Don't do it.

Softening Cashmere? Just bought new and it's scratchy!?

I just bought a new cashmere tunic from Griffen brand cashmere. The label says 100% cashmere... but it feels like wool. I was really disappointed when I bought it, but I'd like to keep it since I love the tuinc style, which is sort of hard-to-find in 100% cashmere.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to soften it? I've already tried hand washing it with shampoo and conditioner (didn't work). I'm t the point now where I'm going to try using hair softening product such as Biosilk Silk Therapy which I use to make my own hair softer.

Help!

Softening Cashmere? Just bought new and it's scratchy!?
Some grades of cashmere are finer than others. I own a half dozen cashmere sweaters, and I've noticed the difference in the grade of fiber. At the coarse end, it shades into something only slightly softer than lamb's wool.

Any cashmere can be improved with some very careful hand washing. You do use detergent, but if you use shampoo it should not contain conditioner. Just the 'poo, nothing else. I use yellow Joy mild dishwashing detergent.

Fill a bucket with warm water. Squirt in a teaspoon of detergent. Swish around with hand. Put sweater in water. Press air bubbles out of sweater. Walk away for six hours, or overnight.

Next day, fill another bucket with clean warm water. Also clean the bathroom sink well. Very carefully, then, put hand under the sweater in the sudsy bucket and lift out the whole sweater in a ball, letting nothing hang out. Transfer wet sweater to sink and press, press, press the water out... but don't twist or pull. You should never twist or pull wet wool, including cashmere, because it won't got back into the right shape if you do.

Again form the sweater into a ball and put into the clean water to rinse. Press sweater to mix out any remaining detergent. Carefully lift sweater out of the water as before and press the water out in the sink again. You might want to rinse a second time from the faucet, and press yet again.

Remove the damp sweater from the sink, still in a ball, and unroll it on top of a clean, dry towel. Roll the sweater up inside the towel, like a croissant, and then sit on it to make the water left in the sweater go into the towel. Then unroll the towel, roll up the sweater by itself, and transfer the sweater to a clean, dry spot. Let air-dry for 24 hours.

The sweater will be softer as well as cleaner when the drying is finished.
Reply:But whatever you do fake cashmere can never feel like real. You can visit this link ( %26lt;a href="http://www.uniqlooks.com... Pure Cashmere Information%26lt;/a%26gt; to find eye opening truths about cashmere. Report It

Reply:Send it to the dry cleaners, or go back to the store you bought it form and ask how to soften it.
Reply:Wear a silk camisole underneath, it'll help. Be careful not to use hot water! Liquid downy fabric softener may help. Lay flat to dry.
Reply:I'm not sure how to make it softer. I can tell you that I can't wear cashmere at all or angora. I'm allergic and have the same problem you describe. Is it possible that you are allergic?
Reply:were a soft camisole or tank top underneath it, is it really real cashmere though? it should be really soft.

How can hair treatments make your hair healthy if they have a lot of alcohol in them?

I'm using biosilk silk therapy, and nuetrogena intense hair masque, but i don't see a diff in my hair, and how can they repair your hair when they have alcohol in them?

How can hair treatments make your hair healthy if they have a lot of alcohol in them?
Hair cannot be repaired, as it is dead when it grows out of the scalp. The alcohols in many products are emollients, which are moisturizing to the hair. Many of the alcohols are by-products of vegetable sources, such as Cetyl alcohol Cetaryl alcohol. But there are alcohols that are drying to the hair, which has the opposite affect of the aforementioned. These include alcohol denat, SD alcohol, etc.

Don't rely on products to improve the condition of your hair. They can help 'mask' damage, and the right products can help to prevent damage, but they cannot treat damage. The best way to improve the condition of your hair and prevent damage is by minimizing manipulation(chemical processes such as coloring, thermal reconditioning, perming, highlighting, etc), good health(mental and physical), trimming damage to prevent splits from spreading, and just being wise to what you are using on your hair. Learn about the ingredients; about how your hair responds to them. Don't just assume because the product says that it's for _______ type of hair, that it is the best product for the hair.

Remember that the FDA doesn't regulate what claims are made product manufacturers(e.g treats damage, makes hair grow). They only regulate the ingredient listing. So, the best thing is to just do your own research. Look at the ingredients, and look up their purpose. You'd be surprised at what you find.
Reply:Great information! Report It

Reply:What KP says is true, hair cannot be "made healthy again" it is not alive outside of the scalp. It is like a frayed rope when it is damaged, you can put things (products) that make it look and feel better, but they are basically just putting a form of wax, oil, or even plastic polymers on the hair making it feel and look smooth for the time that they last on the hair. Some come out as soon as the next wash some stay in longer. Alot of them build up, sometimes making things worse. Some "good" products contain alchohol as a thinning agent to get that item onto the hair. If you find something you like, I like Biolage conditioning balm, it's still a good idea to do a vinegar rinse to strip all soaps and waxes off of the hair once a week or every two weeks. I like just regular apple cider vinegar as a rinse in the shower, just pour a little in hand apply to hair work through with hands and rinse out.
Reply:The best way to test a product is to use it for 4 weeks. I can recommend a hair treatment by Arbonne that my stylist switch to. I see a difference in my hair. It look a smoother, shinier, and thicker. go to www.arbonne.com and use consultant ID 16301108. They have vitamins and all natural hair products.

I have short hair and it's really poofy and straight (not frizzy), how can i put it down?

My hair (1 or 1.5 inches long), when slept on, is put down. After waking up and going to take a shower it grows poofy and straight up. I've heard about BioSilk Silk Therapy, does that help mend my hair down? If I grow my hair long will it go down? Or are there any methods to keep my hair down? (I don't feel like using gel/pomade because it gets ruined easy and not permanent for whole day)

I have short hair and it's really poofy and straight (not frizzy), how can i put it down?
hmm u can try mousse, its lighter and not as damaging to the hair especially if u get it alcohol free. u can also try hot oil treatments which u can get from any drug store to help with the dryness. and u can try hair serum if u dont want anything to harden it. u could also get a hair straighter and straighten it since it wont take very long because its short. and u can work straight hair girl! wear cute earring and make up to bring out ur eyes =)
Reply:you can use japanese straightening and then it will always be straight. last about nine montha and is around five hundered dollars.
Reply:have you tried a heavier conditioner to weight the hair down or a leave in conditioner that might help
Reply:I used to have the same problem. I grew my hair longer so that if it was really bad I can just pull it back. Otherwise I recommend VO5 Hair conditioning oil. It is usually in a tube and doesn't smell so wonderful but it works great! I am always trying new products anyway and I always come back to this. It is nice because it workds without heat. Just be carefull not to add to much because it can be greasy.
Reply:my hair used to be short n frizzy too. have u tried just straightening? if not, the japanese straightening is more effective if that doesnt work.

What are the best shampoos & are more expensive ones better?

my hair is somewhat frizzy without serium(i use biosilk silk therapy for fizz) and i use a flat irn everyday because i like it straight. any recommendations?

What are the best shampoos %26amp; are more expensive ones better?
Matrix Sleek Look is the best one for what you have in mind.
Reply:i use garnier fructis..and i love it. and i have wavy/curlyish hair so before i straighten mine i use john freda frizz control..it works good.
Reply:No. Let me tell you a little something, but it is a secret that you cannot share with even your closest friends. Well, maybe your CLOSEST friends but no one else LOL. If you look at what your paying for shampoo, let's say it is six dollars and eighty five cents. About 45 cents of that is production costs, about 13 cents is distribution, about two bucks is their profit and the REST IS MARKETING! So, if you buy generic what you ARE NOT PAYING is the 3-4 dollars for all that marketing and such a big profit margin. Same product that is the only difference.
Reply:you should try Head %26amp; Shoulders or Garnier, they work really good with my hair.
Reply:I have been using Pantene for years and love it. Makes my hair shiny and soft.
Reply:Garnier Fructis works really well. It makes my hair feel soft, %26amp; shiny.
Reply:i love infusium 23 both shampoo and conditioner its only around 5 bucks a bottle and it smells so good!
Reply:Matrix is a really good shampoo....
Reply:Nioxin Hair Products %26amp; Nioxin Shampoo are the very best for many reasons. Yes, expensive is better. Check out the link.
Reply:go to www.yvesrocherusa.com

They carry wonderful products and you'll pay about the same for Pantene in stores.
Reply:I'm a hairstylist so this is my educated answer. I've tested P.H. levels in most of the grocery store brands and Aussie tested to be the healthiest store brand. The worst were Pantene Pro V, Thermal Silk, and Herbal Essence. They may seem to make your hair soft and shiny but the coat the hair with a build up. As far as professional products go there all good for your hair. It's just your preference and how much you are willing to pay. My favorite is Redken Products, they have something for every type of hair. And there reasonably priced. Do avoid over clarifying your hair b/c it can become brittle.
Reply:Biolage. Pricey but organic and smells amazing...plus they offer very tailored products for your hair.
Reply:i agree with the redken suggestion. i'd like to add that if you go to a beauty supply store (in michigan we have trade secret!) they sell them in shampoo/conditioner packages that save you a lot (i think redken is 41%) it makes it very close to the cost of higher end drugstore brands.
Reply:market got lots of good shampoos, that is hard to said whish one is the best, as here is not any shampoo that suit to everyone

Tell me if this a good idea to use on my hair?

ok, im going to use dangerously straight shampoo, and im going ot use the feria deep conditioner for black hair, and after i get out of the shower im going to use a biosilk silk therapy serum. Will that make my hair soft? Is it a good Combo?

Tell me if this a good idea to use on my hair?
Ahah.

For a gurl yay.

but maybe just a lil

too much products soo.

if it works for girls it should work for u and soften

your hair acculy im kinda sure it will depending on how dry ur hair is =] hope i helped
Reply:I think it's pretty good, although you probably wouldn't want too many products on you hair, as it wears your hair down. The deep conditioner will make it smoother and silkier, but don't go too much on the serum. Adding a blowdrier in the mix will add to the shine, too.
Reply:what the dangerously straight shampoo does is to moisten your hair with oils to make it heavier (slightly). with more weight pulling your hair down, it will help your hair straighten out. on top of that using the deep conditioner (oil) and the therepy serum (more oil!!).. i'm pretty sure your hair will get kinda oily by the time you're out of the bath.

deep conditioners should only be used like once a week and not after every hair wash. you WILL get greasy hair.

i'd say alternate between the conditioner and the therapy serum. keep it simple. they work fine on their own!
Reply:well im not sure but it would not hurt to try. :)

Heat Protection?
The Sedu Smoothing Heat Protecting Boost is the best. It works really well, and it really does protect your hair

so i would just say to make sure to use it though, because i was forgeting a couple times and my hair is getting sorta frizzy so just don't forget to use it!
Reply:I love tresseme heat defence spray it also seem to help it staighten but is very light you can't feel it in your hair afterwards. it protects up to 200 degrees C which alot don't, make sure you check how hot your straightner gets and upto what heat the product you get protects otherwise its usless!

another good one (also upto 200) is swartzkopt spray - pink lid.
Reply:I use a cream, like Matrix VaVoom, it helps with heat and also split ends, and if you have rusty water...helps keep your color natural instead of turning orange!Hope it helps
Reply:tresemee heat tammer works best. :] its not that expensive either and makes your hair relaly shiny.

Can I use semi-permanent color after I got my hair half highlighted a little over a month ago?

The roots are showing and I have an event to go to. Will a semi-permanent like 'Natural Instincts' or 'Color Match' wash away or dull my highlights? My natural Ash blonde hair is growing in pretty dark. I also have split ends..odd since i just got a trim in October-I condition almost daily and use silk therapy ointment daily-is my hair damaged or just have split ends? I use an ION hairdryer.

I got my hair highlighted only once before and that was 11 months before these new ones.

Can I use semi-permanent color after I got my hair half highlighted a little over a month ago?
Yes, you can use a semi-permanent haircolor on top of your highlights. Semi color contains no ammonia and is a great toner over highlights. More than likely, your hair will be shiney %26amp; more conditioned after you use the semi. It will make your dull hair look healthy and bright.

Natural Instincts is great, and you can also shop at Sally Beauty Supply to buy Salon Quality Products. Clairol Professional makes a two great semi's at Sally called Beautiful Collection and Radiance. Both add a ton of shine and will perk up your highlights. You can visit Sally and see these actual haircolors on hair swatches on the shelf to pick out the color you like the best.

Reply:Thats not advisable it may result in hair loss cause of over processing with the colour ok?So i think you wait like a month before attempting that!

How does your hair become dryed out over night?

Okay my hair was fine, I usually use 3 hair care products "Sunsilk Frizz creme, Biosilk Silk Therapy, Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum" and I flat iron my hair every other 2-3 days. I woke up one day and my hair was still fine, as soon as I took a shower, my hair became so poofy and dry! it still is, how does that happen over night? I can't stop thinkin about how bad my hair looks, I'm probably gonna head over to my hairstylist but I just don't get it, I have a chi flat iron and use it only 2 - 3 times a week... it's all frizzy and dry compared to what it was, my friends said it looked fine but I know my hair and it's WAY dryer than it was the night before....

How does your hair become dryed out over night?
Cut down on the products.

Also, go out to a hair supply store and get a deep conditioner.

One that says "Cholesterol" on it.

They're amazing for giving soft hair back. :)

Also, keep that straightener on a low setting!!!
Reply:is your diet balanced? Eat tuna for hair moisture, also other fish, almonds, nuts, make sure you get lots of vitamin D.

My recipe for nice hair is: leave it alone as much as possible.

DO NOT, under any circumstances, wash it more than twice per week!!! That dries it out horribly. The more you poke at it (with iron, products, washing....) the worse it will eventually get and more split ends will appear.
Reply:hun relax it is okay.. u could be dont a couple of things wrong

1. dont put any serum in ur hair until after u are done straighting it

2. u cannot use all 3 products at once.

3. Biosilk is great but it dries ur hair

4. when u wash ur hair always use deep conditioner. My fav. is Pantain "Intensive treatment" If you are using straighting iron or blow drier, even gel, it is very important to do treatments. You use the treatment after u shampoo and condition ur hair.

Trust me ur hair will look like the girls in the commercials... I really hope I helped cuz i do know what it feels like when ur hair is a mess
Reply:um I know cotton dries your hair out, so I use either silk, or satin pillow cases or a silk satin scarf to cover my hair.

Other than that IDK what went wrong. I know sometimes your hair gets used to products and they stop working as effectively.

IDK hope I helped some?
Reply:If you live in California it could be the Santa Ana high pressure. This causes the humidity to be very low, causes an increase in static electricity - maybe that's why your hair is frizzy - good news......it's only temporary.

I think I have hair buildup?

I would appreciate if someone could suggest what I can do to help my hair, I have naturally wavy/curly hair.

I think I have hair buildup?
If you think you have styling product build up, the easiest home remedy is to mix 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of baking soda with a handful of shampoo. Lather this in your hair, let it stay in your hair 5 - 10 minutes, shampoo %26amp; condition like normal.

You may just be using too many styling products. Or too much. Trying just using the size of a nickel or dime of the frizz cream. This can make your hair feel sticky or dirty, when you use too much. It can also make it hard to run your fingers thru your hair.

Thermal flat irons can really dry out your hair. Try using them on a lower heat setting and try using styling products that are specifically made for use with flat irons to protect your hair from heat damage.

Visit your local Sally Beauty Supply store and the sales associate can show your some styling products made to protect your hair from thermal straighteners like your flat iron.
Reply:I think you are putting too much styling stuff in your hair.

Go get a bottle of baby shampoo and wash your hair several times to get all the junk out. Then only use a light leave in conditioner or light finishing cream. Maybe a shine spray or flat iron spray - but not all of those at once - you'll probably have to experiment a little to find what works for you.

You can go back to your favorite shampoo, but use the baby shampoo every so often to get the hair really clean.
Reply:At first when I read the title I though you may have had a hair ball.

But it sounds like you just need to go to a hairdresser and get your hair thined out with thinning sissors.

It doesn't take long and should solve that problem. Hair thickens up sometimes and needs to be thinned out.

Hair tips please!?

I have dark brown wavy hair(it has never been dyed).

I used to use Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Shampoo and Conditioner, but recently switched to BioSilk Silk Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner.

The thing is, my hair isn't that 'beautiful wavy", it's the "out of control wavy", which is why I straighten my hair.

Here's the thing:

I take a shower and wash my hair one day, then I pat it dry a bit with a towel then let it dry on it's own. When it's dry I use this product to protect it from being burned, straighten my hair, use this other product that makes it look "sleekier".

The next day, my hair still looks good, I take a shower, don't wash my hair, and head out the door.

After that it's a repeat of the 1st day, then the second day.

BUT, my question is, which shampoo and conditioner should I use to help my hair stay sleek, straight(or at least a beautiful wavy) and non-frizzy, without really needing a straightener.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hair tips please!?
u just have the same problem as me..its frustrating rite..i also just straighten my hair to keep it in control.what i did was i kept to the same hairstylist as she knws my hair structure and texture..so when u stick to the same hairstylist, he/she knws how to handle ur hair and cut it according to the waves u've got.using the rite hair products also is crucial as im using swarfkorf hair treatment and i use it like the ordinary conditioner.straightening ur hair will needs u to always blow dry it using medium volume and thn switch to the cool volume to dry ur hair.u also need a good hair brush to comb ur hair also while blowing ur hair.well if u straighten ur hair and it does not last for 3 months, than i suggest u to just curl ur hair cus its the only way to handle wavy hair..its sexy too.
Reply:hey thr no problem...wavy hair are really sexy too..u just need to know how to take care of it. Report It

Reply:Well try products that are made for your type of hair. Big sexy hair has a few different types like Silky sexy hair (I have used) and straight sexy hair. Also try Redken All Curl products. They will help make you hair more managable.

Also Garnier Frutics (sp?) Makes a product called soft curl. I really like that.
Reply:i hav the same problem i use jus about everything but it seems nothing works huh so i think u should go to the beauty hair stores or hair cuts places becuz they can u give me info about hair then anybody can so go check it out sry i wasnt that much of a help
Reply:Use BIOLAGE coarse, frizzy dry hair line. It is nice and lightweight but it helps to keep frizz and flyaways to a minimum. Also after you get out of the shower use a anti frizz cream to help ward off any extra temptation from those feisty guys!
Reply:Try the Matrix Sleek line. i've seen it work wonders.

I need to make sure I'm not braking their irritating no liquid rule.

Am I allowed to bring these items? I already know they have to be in a ziplock bag and three oz.

sunsilk 24/7 hair creme

Biosilk silk therapy

Ralph Lauren perfume

Got2b playful texturizing pomade

a hairstraghtener

Some of these things are pretty dumb to ask but I want to make sure.

Also, some things are more than 3 oz like the hairspray. Can I bring things that is more than 3 oz that is aerosel or gel or an liquid in a check-in bag?

If the questions and details don't make sense, just explain or give me a link to everything I need to know about the new airplane rules.

You are allowed to bring those items in your carry on luggage and they do need to be under that 3 oz. rule. But if you choose to pack those types of items in your checked luggage they do not have to be restricted by size. As far as the complete rules I would suggest that you visit the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/

Hope this helps and have a great trip!
Reply:check out www.Minimus.biz for everything travel-sized. it's my favorite resource for traveling.
Reply:Everything must be 3 oz or under for your carry on. Anything bigger, pack in your checked luggage.

That being said, there is no guarantee that what you put in your checked luggage, will stay there. If they see something that they feel is suspicious, they'll take it out. That or they'll put it some place else in your luggage and make you freak out.
Reply:I travel quit abit. I have found out that if you use a lot "trial size" prouducts they will let them pass through. if not , put some of your personal products in trial size bottles. I have friend who works as an airline inspector. He lets me know when the change the rules. AND THEY ALWAYS DO!!!!!!!
Reply:For starters, it's usually easier to take the big things in your luggage not your carry-on. Otherwise, separate the absolute necessities and go to this site:

http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/p...

note how they stress to only bring essentials.
Reply:You're smart to ask.

I want to make sure you understand that these limits are for CARRY-ON bags. If you put any amount of hairspray, gel deordorant, perfume, etc. in your CHECKED baggage, you're fine!

They are only concerned with what you physically carry on the plane with you.

Do over the counter hair straightening treatments really work?

I have wavy hair ( I am a latina), and I have to flat iron it every morning.

It's time consuming and damaging, I'm looking for a quick, inexpensive fix. Regular straightening shampoos don't work, and all the crap I use on my hair (pomade, silk therapy, the list goes on) doesn't help either. I can't afford that japanese hair reconditioning. I could afford those ones they sell over the counter. Do they work, and what are the results?

Do over the counter hair straightening treatments really work?
i'm latina too and i know what you mean, i tried to look for products that work for my hair and practically none work for my hair which sucks! I want to do the Japenese Straightening too but i don't have that much money. Those Over the counter ones don't work they'll ruin your hair and dry it out. You should save for the Japenese Straightening System but if you live near NYC you can it done by the Japenese salons it will be really cheap, like 150-200. If you live in another area you can try to find salons that the Japanese people own, i don't know if it will be that cheap but it shouldn't cost as much as regular salons. Plus, they really know what they're doing and won't make mistakes like sometimes the stylist do.
Reply:straightening your hair chemically is best done at a salon. it doesn't have to be the japanese type. call around and get the best deal, and a experienced professional.

hair pro 25 yrs.
Reply:I too thought that over the counter products was the easy answer and tried to straighten my hair by myself, big mistake! It is now completely stripped, overdried, and ruined. I am latina also, and have very curly hair, I didn't want to straighten it completely, just wanted to soften my curl, and thought putting the straightener on my hair for 1/2 the time than the recommended amount would do the trick, but once I started applying the product, it took longer than anticipated. Then by the time I sectioned off, started at the front and got to the back of my head, it was time to rinse off. I now have half straight hair in the front and semi-curly hair in the back.

It looks horrible. Take my advice, either go to a professional, or get someone to help you, and think twice before going to the over the counter quick fix. Hope this helps.
Reply:yes they do
Reply:Try it at a salon first..because something could do some serious damage to your hair if you get the wrong kind and do it wrong
Reply:yes they work
Reply:NO WAY! I EVEN PAYED $200.00 TO HAVE MY HAIR PROFESSIONALLY CHEMICALLY STRAITENED AND EVERY MORNING I HAVE TO USE THE HAIR STRAIGHTENER

Flat iron usage 101!!!?

This is a message to all that flat iron their hair:

Please make sure you ALWAYS use product in your hair before flat ironing it. Some good professional products are -

Paul Mitchell's- Straight Works

Big Sexy's-Straight Areo

Redken-Gloss Drops

Farouk-Silk Therapy

Chi-Ceramic lotion

Non Professional-

Anything that has an oil or conditioner to it for flat iorning.

ALSO, only use the high heat setting for thick coarse hair!!! If you use the high heat on normal to fine hair you will see a lot of breakage and split ends...that kind of damage will only make your hair look bad, and shorten your hair. It will take quite a while to get all the damage cut off also.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!

Flat iron usage 101!!!?
Ummmmm WRONG ANSWER!!!

Never ever use:

Redken-Gloss Drops or

Anything that has an oil or conditioner to it for flat ironing.

Doing so will not only damage your hair but literally cook it. Oils are never used when flat ironing hair. There a professional flat iron sprays that can be purchased from a salon to use. Oils are sprayed or hand polished onto the hair after it is flat ironed to give it a sleek finished look. For a professional look, clip your hair on top of your head and start by ironing the back sections in quarter inch sections at a time. The heat setting is not important, but do not leave it in your hair to long, you should start a half an inch away from your scalp and pull down in one quick fluid motion. Continue in this pattern dropping a section down from the top of your head as you work each layer. When finished rub bio-silk or above mention products into the palms of your hands and pull threw hair. Good luck.

How to use Solia, Biosilk, and Chi Thermal Spray?

Hello,

I recently bought a Solia hair straightener, Biosilk Silk Therapy Serum, and Farouk CHI 44 Iron Guard Thermal Protection Spray. What is the best way to use them? After showering, do I apply the serum, then dry my hair, and then use the thermal protection spray, then use the Solia? Or do I use both serum and the spray when my hair is wet and dry them together?

I read that Biosilk has alcohol in it and will in the long term, dry up your hair. How often should I use it to prevent this from happening?

Thanks!

How to use Solia, Biosilk, and Chi Thermal Spray?
biosilk will not dry up your hair! i dont use any of the other things you mentioned, but i have used biosilk for many years. you can put it in your hair any time you want to, but i think that it works best after a shower..towel dry your hair and put the biosilk all through it when your hair is still damp. i also put it on my skin and it makes it super smooth...i love this stuff :D
Reply:Any thermal products should be used before you apply any type of heat to your hair. So I would put them both on before drying. If the thermal spray isn't too heavy, maybe spray a little more onto each section before you flatiron it.

Biosilk question?

is biosilk a good brand in your opinion? I bought the silk therapy shampoo and conditioner. I just wondered others' opinions. thanks :D

Biosilk question?
o yeah it works amaizing!
Reply:Its okay, but I think it is kind of too heavy for my hair. I personally love the Kenra line of hair products. The gloss is amazing and it smells really pretty. Citre shine is another one of my favorite hair products. I have also heard that Joico is a good line.
Reply:i bough the hair conditioning oil because so many people rave about it, but it ended giving me flaky dandruff like hair...
Reply:Yes i would def recomend it i love there products and there serum the biosilk loveeeeeeeeee it
Reply:yep...works great!!=]♥

Is the sedu good?

Hey. I have a regular flat iron thats pretty nice. It's from a beauty salon but it's really hard for me to get to the roots because the plate is to big. So for my birthday my mom got me a sedu 1". Do you think that this will be better and is the sedu a good straightener? Also will the sedu go well with biosilk silk therapy?

Is the sedu good?
As a stylist, I have used a lot of flat irons (hair straighteners), including Sedu, Hai, Infrashine, Chi, Paul Mitchell, Solia, Big Sexy, Andis, Babyliss Ghd, T3, Kenta etc.

In terms of performance:

The best ones are: Sedu, Kenta, Solia, Ghd, Infrashine. These are top of the line professional brands

Above average: Chi, Hai, Paul Mitchell,

Average: T3, Big Sexy, Andis, Babyliss

Below Average: Conair, Vidal Sassoon, Revlon, Bed Head etc. These are cheap consumer brands that you will find in drugstore. If you care about your hair, do NOT buy them.

Heat protection?

I'm getting a Sedu hair straightener and want to know the best products to use against the heat. I'm leaning on Sedu Smoothing Heat Protecting Boost, and BioSilk Silk Therapy. Please help!

Heat protection?

What will keep the gorgeous sheen on brand new human hair extensions? I've even tried calling the manufacturer

I have tried many products like Biosilk silk therapy, conditioner and water rinsing, topical shining, spray shining, anti-frizz and nothing seems to restore it. I have called the stylists who work with these extensions every day and they just keep suggesting the Biosilk. I was told by one manufacturer that there is nothing you can do to restore the soft luxurious sheen of new human hair extensions. Is there anyone who has found a way to do this?

What will keep the gorgeous sheen on brand new human hair extensions? I've even tried calling the manufacturer
sheen spray!
Reply:The only thing that will work is Oil Sheen. I'd use something light too. You dont want to bog your extensions down with a lot of chemicals. But whatever it is you decide to use... use only one product for best results.
Reply:hey i'm hairdresser, i am trained in extensions and i wear extensions.

problem is with most extensions tht r human, the cuticle has been stripped during the harsh chemical processing. what most manufactureres do is coat the hair in silicone and enzymes to make it soft and shiny. after several shampoo's tht coating wears off.

ive tht exact same problem with mine...and its been a lil trial and error, but i think ive kinda got the hang of it.

because when u get extensions, they r ALOT of high maintenance...u have add moisture to em cos because they dont it get it naturally like ur own does.

doing conditioning treatments helps...ive found mixing 2 together really helps.

also using a maintenance spray will help.

(cos i;m hairdresser i;m a lil product happy so when i did get extensions i didnt really change my routine to my hair too much)

so...

1) shampoo - i use matrix biolage ultra hydrating shampoo

2) conditioner i use Aussie 3 min miracle reconstructor and TIGI dumb blonde conditioner - dont b afraid to mix 2 or 3 conditioners

3) after towel drying hair i use a leave in conditioner - sallys own brand Tea Tree leave in conditioner. this helps detangle the hair.(when detangle extensions work from the ends up to the roots it minimises damage)

4) b4 blow drying i use fantasia hair polisher mist (can b found in sallys hair and beauty) and TIGI ego boost. when blow drying section the hair - makes it easier and doesnt damage the hair as much.

5) after blow drying i use a serum on my hair so smooth it over..i then secetion hair off and str8en.

6) i use a smoothing cream to stop it frizzing up.

dont 4get theres different qualities of hair - most comes from asia..usually india or china...some claim to b european but they arent. (european hair is not strong enough to go thro all the chemical processing and then still b classed as usuable where as asian hair is naturally alot stronger and can withstand all the chemicals)

the true way to get good hair extensions is to get remy hair, but this costs alot, but remy hair is hair where it still has the cuticle

any more q's email me

Good leave in conditioner?

I have wavy hair which I flat iron quite often, I have a heat protectant (BioSilk Silk Therapy) and my hair is shoulder length and frizzy. I'd prefer a spray but I'm open to anything.

Thanks

My favorite is Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri Wheat Leave in Conditioner or It's A 10 Miracle Leave in Spray. You don't need a lot just a few spritzes

What should i do to look my hair soft and silky like this?

After blowdrying my hair ,it doesn't look silky and my hair is also frizzy due to static. i want my hair to look soft and silky like this.. i don't know what people are doing to look the hair silky.i usually blow dry my hair, also use biosilk's silk therapy as heat protectant.what should i do to get my hair looks like this

What should i do to look my hair soft and silky like this?
i use some serum from Fantasia [tha hair brand] theres a lot to choose frum but i use tha pink one its called frizz buster. it makes your hair shiny and frizz free. [they sell it at walgreens/walmart/target...basically anywhere they sell hair stuff]
Reply:well you can try a conditioner or an spray.
Reply:sunsilk works great
Reply:i use the Got2B smooth operator, lustre lotion and silkening serum when i get out of the shower put that in there. then a littl e bit of the serum when your hair dries and smooth it on the top. it works very well for me.
Reply:Make sure you're using a really good conditioner. I find that the better it is, the more glossy your hair can be. Also you can try Aquage beyond shine spray. I have used it for months and will never switch. I love it. It's a salon product that you probably can only get at a really nice place. Using a flat iron after blowdrying makes my hair look really shiny as well. Just be sure you're using a good one. I use a sedu or a chi. These are quiet expensive but worth the money. When you blow dry you can try using a big round brush. It makes the hair softer, glossier, and straighter. Hope I helped!

Questionnn about the shampoo and conditioner of BIOSILK!! does it work ?

k...i just bought the Biosilk smoothing silk therapy...or something with smoothing therapy or w.e...i got the shampoo and conditioner..and i was just wondering if it worked ? and wat results does it give yuhh from like ugly dry hair or w.e...does it even work ? cause i heard it does but i wanna see from yuh're experience...so yeahh..thanxx soooo muchh !! =)

Questionnn about the shampoo and conditioner of BIOSILK!! does it work ?
I think it depends on what type of hair you have. I hate it because it sticks to my hair too much, and makes it kind of greasy. Not very cleansing.
Reply:I've never used the shampoo/conditioner, but the silk therapy drops are the best.
Reply:YES!!! it's AWESOME....I use it to control my CRAZY curly hair

Is This Ok???

okay i am wondering is this routine okay. im only doing this when i wash my hair and i dont go to the beautician. i wash my hair about once a week. i am african american and i have dry, medium hair(in thickness) and right above my shoulders and im thinking about getting it cut and highlights for school which for me starts in about a week and a half.

1. wash hair with REdken smooth down shamoo

2. condition with Matrix Biolage Ultra Hydrating Balm

3. apply biolage hydra-seal creme

4.apply Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum before blow drying

5. after drying apply CHi silk infusuion

6. flat iron or curl my hair .

7. apply wax works to the edges and spray some BioSilk Silk Therapy Shine On.

and does anyone know any good hairstyles or websites with how to do the hairstyles. and thank you sooo much

Is This Ok???
well, i do not know much about how to take care of african american hair (no offense), but i have heard that it is drier-ish that caucasion hair. i don't know why you are only washing your hair once a week but i would reccomend washing it every other day with a good moisterising shampoo for african american hair. maybe conditioner too. what i use to straighten my hair is this heat protectant spray made by kms california. it's sold at beautyfirst salon. i dunno where else though. i straighten my hair every day too. make sure that when ur hair is wet you only use a wide-tooth comb on it. do NOT brush it. make sure your flat iron is ceramic. they're expensive but help prevent your hair from getting damaged. that's about all i know. o, and wash your hair w/ warm-cool water. hot water damages ur hair.
Reply:Just make it smell good. Good like when I lay my head on it. There is nothing like the smell of a womans pillow with pretty clean hair.
Reply:yep ur routine sound fine =D
Reply:you shouldnt use so many products.
Reply:well i think u r applying lots of products....u should let ur hair breathe so that it is healthier, and not so dry!
